General Pet Health Exams

Searsport Veterinary hospital recommends annual exams to determine the general well-being of your pet and help identify issues. Early detection of problems is particularly important as rapid action may be needed to solve a problem.

Searsport Veterinary Hospital also offers a senior pet work up. Usually around the age of 8 (earlier in large breeds) is when we like to get the “baseline” information. What that means is that the lab work and radiograph my not show anything now but we have a reference to go back to if you pet becomes sick. The work up consists of a chest and abdominal radiograph as well as some bloodwork (CBC and a mini chemistry). At your senior pet appointment we can also talk about arthritis symptoms and what you can do to help. We will also talk about what to look for and expect as your pet ages.
